The dress has a classic feel and its champagne tint make it a beautiful addition to any wedding. I loved my dress and knew it was right as soon as I put it on. I enjoy a bit of classic style but wanted my dress to look like a wedding dress not a cocktail dress. This dress accomplished that. I was comfortable, and felt beautiful and able to celebrate our wonderful day in class and style. The dress is light and airy with tulle and did not hinder my ability to enjoy time with my guests at the reception. The A-line is flattering to most figures and my alterations as described below also brings about some modesty that most brides want on their big day.
Not sure the reason for discrepancy of dress size and my street size. I tried on a rack size 10 and thought it fit well but they were persistent about measurements and I have sewn enough dresses for myself to know that it would need alterations. The size 14 dress arrived way too large and needed alterations throughout bodice to fit. It is comfortable and will fit a size 6-8 woman with size C-D cups and B cups with inserts. I have a wider back and large shoulders compared to my hips and tend to wear street size dresses 6 and sometimes an 8. My shoulders and back usually dictate the dress size. Hope this is helpful.
Dress originally designed with wide straps and backless but I added lace to cover mid-back, sheer sides and capped sleeves. I am experienced seamstress and worked with bridal seamstress. I did not want guests staring at my bare back or sides during the ceremony. Those areas are just not that interesting on me. In the end, the bodice looked better than original design for someone looking for that type of look. Got lots of compliments on the final product. Dress was ordered much too large but we tapered bodice with darts and it now compliments a women's figure while being comfortable at same time. It is a one of a kind wedding dress after very specific alterations and lace added.
